City of Springdale wins legal battle against the City of Tontitown

The City of Springdale is pleased to report that the City was victorious in litigation resulting from an annexation dispute with the City of Tontitown.

The property located on the southwest corner of Jones Road and West Sunset Avenue was lawfully annexed into Springdale in 2015 at the request of the property owner. Since the annexation, the City has been in litigation brought by the City of Tontitown who alleged that Springdale did not comply with the annexation statute.

After a full hearing and trial on Wednesday, May 9, Circuit Court Judge Martin ruled in favor of Springdale and property owners First Security Bank and Hillcrest Holdings, stating that the City of Springdale had complied with the annexation statute. The court found that Springdale took the substantial steps required to meet the requisites of the statute and the Court therefore denied Tontitown's request for the property to be returned to Tontitown.

The City of Springdale and the property owners are glad this legal matter has been put to rest and are thankful for the dogged effort of City staff who conduct government business lawfully every day and work in the best interest of Springdale residents.
