The City of Springdale has been named a winner of 2018 All-America City Award! This award is the flagship program of the National Civic League (NCL). Springdale is one of 10 winners in the country and was the only city in Arkansas to be a finalist.

A delegation representing the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Springdale Alliance, Northwest Arkansas Council, and OneCommunity attended the NCL conference in Denver in June to present the City's application. Springdale was named a winner at the awards ceremony on the final day of the three-day conference.

"It is an honor to be named an All-America City two years in a row," said Mayor Doug Sprouse. "This award is a tribute to the passionate efforts of our City employees and community partners who work hard to serve our residents. I am grateful for the collaborative efforts I see every day, and I know that by working toward community cohesion and civic engagement, we are fostering our commitment to being a welcoming community."

The theme of the award this year was "Promoting Equity through Inclusive Civic Engagement." Springdale's application highlighted the City's Committee for Civic Engagement and Inclusion and successes with the Mayor's Youth Council, the Downtown Springdale Alliance and its work to revitalize our downtown, Springdale Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Springdale program, and the work done by EngageNWA and WelcomeNWA to promote inclusivity in our community.

Springdale won the award last year for community efforts for civic engagement and inclusiveness to help more children achieve grade-level reading proficiency and early school success, which was led by OneCommunity Reads, UnaComunidad Leyendo in partnership with the Arkansas Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and Springdale Public Schools.
