Smoke Detector Drive

Why?

14 Children and 2 adults have died in house fires across Arkansas since November of 2005.

These lives may have been spared by having working smoke detectors in the home. The International Association of Fire Chiefs reports that roughly 80% of fire deaths result from fires in homes without working smoke alarms. In an effort to ensure that all Springdale homes have at least one of these life-saving devices, the Springdale Fire Department is offering a free smoke detector to any resident who needs one and will even install it upon request. In conjunction with the Smoke Detector Drive, we are also offering home fire safety checks to recommend ways to make families safer from the devastating effects of a fire.

Please call (479) 751-4510 for details.

Smoke Detectors are also available free from all fire departments in both Benton and Washington Counties. Call your local fire department or the following numbers in rural areas:

Benton County (479) 271-1008

Washington County (479) 444-1723
