JANUARY 2011
January 15. “Cabin Fever Reliever,” the museum’s annual celebration of the New Year.

January 19, noon. “Arkansas’s Apple Roots,” a program by Dr. Roy Rom, emeritus professor of horticulture at the University of Arkansas, and owner of Rom Family Orchards in Fayetteville.


FEBRUARY 2011
February 1, 7:00 p.m. “Leave Town and Never Return: Racial Cleansing in Arkansas,” a program by Guy Lancaster, editor for the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture. Presented in conjunction with TheatreSquared’s new play, Sundown Town, which runs February 3-20.

February 7-January 16, 2012. Working Dawn to Dusk, an exhibit exploring the lives of Ozark homesteaders.

APRIL 2011
April 11-September 17. In-Car-Nation, an exhibit on the importance of automobiles in Northwest Arkansas during the 1900s.

April 19-August 20. Settling the Ozarks, a photo exhibit featuring images that document the skills needed by Ozark pioneers.

September 15, noon. "American Indian Rock Art in Northwest Arkansas," a program by Dr. George Sabo III, archeologist with the Arkansas Archeological Survey and professor of anthropology at the University of Arkansas.

September 16, 7:00 p.m. National Railway Historical Society meeting.

September 20, 10:00 a.m. Lifewriters memoir writers meeting.

September 23, 7:00 p.m. Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable meeting.

September 26, 1:30 p.m. Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers meeting.

OCTOBER 2010
October 4-March 26, 2011. The Music of Our Lives, an exhibit on the role music has played in the everyday lives of folks in the Arkansas Ozarks.

October 4, 7:00 p.m. Informational meeting about the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission's plans for observing the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War between 2011 and 2015. This meeting is targeted to residents of Washington, Benton and Madison counties, though everyone is invited to attend.

October 5, 7:00 p.m. Premiere of Ozark –A Celebration in Song, a documentary music video featuring the lives of everyday Ozarkers. A collaboration between folk duo Still on the Hill and the Jones Television Network, funded by the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission.

October 9, 1:00-4:00 p.m. Fishback School Reunion, for former students, teachers, and friends of this country school located east of Springdale.

October 20, noon. "Collecting Folk Song: An Art AND a Science?”, a program by Professor Chalon Ragsdale of the University of Arkansas Department of Music.

October 23. Accident School reunion.


NOVEMBER 2010
November 6, 10:00 a.m. "The Mountain Dulcimer in the Ozarks," a hands-on workshop by Bob Madison, who will discuss dulcimer origins, repertoire, and migration to Arkansas. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the noter and drone style of playing.

November 17, noon. “Madison County Mysteries, Solved and Unsolved,” a program by Joy Russell of the Madison County Genealogical and Historical Society.

November 20, 2:00 p.m.
Program and booksigning by acclaimed nature photographer Tim Ernst.


DECEMBER 2010
December 4. "Holidays are for the Birds!" Join local bird experts Joe Neal and Lynn Sciumbato for a couple of programs on our feathered friends. At 11:00 a.m., Joe will present a slide program on "Winter Birds in Northwestern Arkansas." At 1:00 p.m., Lynn and some of the residents at Morning Star Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will show and tell us about life as a bird.

December 21-April 16, 2011. Bumper Crop, a photo exhibit about the rise and fall of the apple industry in Northwest Arkansas.
