Corporal David Reed was promoted yesterday to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Reed was raised in Springdale and graduated from HarBer High School. After graduating High School Sgt. Reed was an active Marine for four years.

Sgt Reed never imagined being an Officer but now can not imagine doing anything else. Sgt. Reed joined the Police Department in 2015 quickly becoming involved in many specialties such as FTO, Honor Guard, and ultimately a K-9 Handler along with his partner, Rizo who have had a great 5 year career together.

Sgt Reed has had many opportunities to demonstrate bravery and heroism with one incident standing out. During a shooting incident [Then Officer] Sgt Reed and others carried a victim out of a chaotic scene to paramedics so they could receive care quickly  resulting in Sgt. Reed receiving a life saving award.

During his downtime and not spending time with family; Sgt Reed mentors youth through the Young Fishing Federation, training dogs, hunting, and fishing. Sgt Reed looks forward to this next chapter being able to make a positive impact to the community.

Sgt. Reed has some big boots to fill although he will know where to go to get them. Sgt. Reed is the son in law to retired Sgt. Sanchez who had the honor of pinning the Sergeant badge and passing down the badge number of 123.

Congratulations Sgt. Reed and God Bless this chapter!
