Cpl John Scott

Police Officers wear many hats. Law enforcer, protector, referee, counselor; and the list continues. One role that Officers have the privilege of taking is the School Resource Officer. These officers wear similar hats to the beat officer but Corporal John Scott wears one that is different than the typical role and that is "teacher".

Corporal John Scott is a 28 year Law Enforcement Veteran and over his time has worn many hats. In 2018 Cpl Scott was assigned to Springdale High School and began teaching at the Law Academy at SHS. Students learn the foundations of law enforcement; getting a first hand look and hands on experience in different aspects of the criminal justice system.

Cpl Scott dedicates many hours not only to teaching the students of the law academy but to all students he comes in contact. He recently stated he makes sure to say hello to everyone as he may be the first face they see in the morning. He works diligently on making a positive impact on each and every student and staff member he encounters.

Recently Cpl Scott was nominated for the Golden Apple award presented by KNWA. This award is given to a local teacher, coach, administrator, or school employee that has "gone above and beyond" their every day duties.  On Tuesday, November 28th Cpl Scott was awarded the Golden Apple Award for the month of November.

Several of the nominations spoke about how Cpl Scott makes sure that they are safe and taken care of. One nominator wrote about how that if they are down he checks on them and always has a smile on his face. Cpl Scott was also compared with Batman.

We appreciate Cpl Scott's work as not only a SRO but teaching those looking forward to a career in Law Enforcement.

Congratulations Corporal Scott!!
