Today we celebrated the promotion of Sgt Philip Group. Sgt. Group is a Springdale native graduating from Springdale High School in 2002. In 2006 Sgt. Group began his career with the Springdale Police Department as a member of the Auxiliary Officer Program. In 2007, he began full-time with the department as a Jailer before becoming a Patrol Officer in 2008.

During his time with the Police Department, Sgt. Group has served in many roles, including patrol, School Resource Officer, where he became influential in many students' lives, starting the "Man Up" program, mentoring 7th grade boys, involving them in community service projects, sports, and many other activities, making it a successful program at Sonora Middle School. Sgt. Group's most recent assignment was in the Criminal Investigation Division, where he served for 7 years, investigating major cases, crime scene processing, and training new Detectives to become successful in their careers.

Sgt. Group is also a member of the Crisis Negotiator Team, Peer Support Team, and is the team leader of the Honor Guard. Sgt. Group has also served as a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, Certified Car Seat Technician, and is a certified Crisis Intervention Officer.

Sgt Group has been married to his wife Megan for 12 years, and they have two sons together: Maddux and Beckett. When not at work, Sgt Group enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his son's youth sports teams.
